Produced for the Second Annual Cooking Fire Theatre Festival in Dufferin Grove Park. A highly physical outdoor piece based on the story of the seventeenth century Diggers, who occupied and communally farmed the common lands in war-torn England as a protest against the treatment of the poor. This show uses the pamphlets of leader Gerard Winstanley and a variety of English political folk songs from the period as the inspiration for a story of brash and heroic resistance by a ragged group of protesters in their tragicomic struggle for land and rights.
Stranger Theatre is planning to tour The World Turned Upside Down to several Toronto parks in the summer of 2007.
