"winningly witty…a charming tale, charmingly told, with a subtext that gets you thinking" -Stephen Pederson, "The Chronicle Herald," Halifax, 2004
A delightful and absurd show based on a seventeenth century French "wonder tale," attributed to Charles Perrault. "The Counterfeit Marquise" tells the story of a young boy who is raised as a girl by his loving and protective mother to escape the life of a soldier. Our heroine grows up to be a beautiful and sophisticated flirt, who travels to Paris to look for love and finds a strangely appropriate happy ending. The piece, which uses elaborate hand puppets, shadow puppets, actors, and many music boxes, has been performed in many cities, in theatres, bars, parks, skating rinks, cafes, warehouses and living rooms.
